Hello there! Welcome to ArtsyGirl.Net, my little spot on the net. :D Although the domain ArtsyGirl.Net has only been around since August 31, 2007, I've had many portfolios and design sites in the past. This website is a place for me to share my art, as well as offer some content you may enjoy. I launched a new version of Wordpress in August 2011 which wiped out all my older entries. Works in progress that was previously posted on my last blog can now be found in the Scraps & WIPs section.

About Me (Artistically)

I love all forms of creativity; including art, graphic design, drawing, music, and poetry. I consider myself to be a very artistic person, however, I don't think I've quite figured out how to reach my full artistic potential. As far as digital art goes, I usually make vexels and illustrations, but I've also been experimenting with digital painting and airbrushing. On March 1, 2011, I completed my first mixed media painting. Ever since than I've developed an obsession with traditional drawing and painting. I love being able to draw things and see how they turn out. Unlike with my digital art, I will rarely ever draw a familiar person. I'm still learning the basics of painting with acrylics and I'm not too good with shading and mixing colors, but I'm looking forward to improving over time. I just need more courage to branch out. You can purchase my prints and originals in my Shop. Thanks to my aunt Peach, I've also fallen in love with crafting. I enjoy making journals and mini albums most of all. Being creative makes me happy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you make something for me?
Sure, I'm available for most freelance work, but I don't work for free. Email me if you're interested and we can work something out.

Favorite artists?
This is hard to answer because I haven't even began to discover all the great artists of this world. I love a lot of traditional and digital artists that some people may not be familiar with, such as Tim Okamura, Steven Lopez, Paul Davey and Sylvia Ji; as well as artists like Ernie Barnes and Banksy. I'm a huge fan of urban and folk art.

What type of paint do you use?
So far I've only used acrylic paint for my traditional paintings. I want to try using oil pastels and watercolors as well.

Favorite person or object to reference?
I really don't have any. I draw whom or whatever inspires me at the moment. My traditional paintings are sometimes loosely based on people, but most of the time they're just weird characters in my head. Although my mother always says they look like someone she's "seen in the world." ;) If you look at the digital art in my Portfolio, you'll probably notice that I've drawn Christina Ricci and Mandy Moore quite a few times. I think they take beautiful pictures.

What's the hardest part of your creative process?
The HAIR. I hate hair. I wish everyone was bald. My life would be so much easier. I still haven't quite mastered hair. I also have huge issues with shading.
